Lara DeRoule

Classroom Teacher

I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and taught pre-kindergarten through 2nd grade for 15 years. I taught various populations in a variety of settings. Early on in my career, I spent summers working in camp programs, both day camps and a sleep away camp for special needs campers. After many years of teaching, I felt the focus in education had become too centered on testing rather than on learning.  So, I left teaching and found my way to dental hygiene. I have worked in dentistry now for over 11 years.  I really enjoy taking care of my patients. However, I missed working in education and working with kids! Then, along came COVID and with it, my own child needing to be home schooled.  So, we opened Dynamic Micro School at Superstition Farm, located near our previous home in Gilbert, Arizona.  Over the school year, we developed a fantastic learning community with kids of all ages, abilites and needs - along with a great community of families.  The progress made through hands-on, developmental and individualized learning was fabulous!  We decided to move to Michigan to be close to family and are thrilled to have our own slice of Michigan heaven where we can start another micro school!
