Dynamic Microschool will be offering STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) sessions at the Coopersville Farm Museum throughout the months of June, July and August.

Dynamic Microschool started at a farm in Arizona last year as a modern take on the one room schoolhouse, serving highly sensitive children who were receiving their education through home schooling, on-line schooling or similar type of path.

Our family moved to Michigan last summer to be near our extended family, and we are so excited to start offering enrichment programs in our new home state!

A microschool, by definition, is a small group of multi-age students working and learning together in a child-led (but adult guided) atmosphere with hands-on, developmental activities.  Dynamic Microschool provides a secure and encouraging place for highly sensitive kiddos to develop and learn!

Highly sensitive children tend to have some of the characteristics, among others...
-sensitivities to touch or to how fabrics/surfaces feel
-very 'in tune' to the emotions of other people
-very sensitive to sounds - either bothered by loud sounds or hears sounds that others might not hear (e.g. a lawnmower in the distance, the dishwasher running in the other room)
-particular about his/her food
-trouble getting to sleep

-emotional and/or takes things to heart
-ruminates over his/her mistakes
-has trouble making choices
-loves animals
-asks many questions
-accurate observer of the people around him/her

Often highly sensitive children will tend to be gifted learners, have attention difficulties, be on the autism spectrum, etc.  However, this is NOT always the case. What IS always the case is that HSC (Highly Sensitive Children) must have safe places to learn , grow, express themselves, be accepted for exactly who they are, have fun, build confidence and be kids!
Dynamic Microschool is built entirely around these ideas.  It is NOT a place of worksheets and 'traditional' learning.  Kids are involved and have ownership of their learning; projects are hands-on and open-ended to fit the differing needs of individuals.
Since it is summertime, Dynamic Microschool will offer these STEM/STEAM classes for the next few months and then move into an ongoing microschool/enrichment program next fall.

All of the STEM/STEAM sessions listed below will be at the Coopersville Farm Museum from 1pm to 4pm.  Please note that some sessions are on Mondays and some are on Fridays.

The age-range is generally 5-12 years of age but feel free to check with me if you have a child (or sibling who wants to come along) who is close but not quite in that range.
